The event was attended by the Campus Director of Tandag, Dr. Evelyn T. Bagood, along with other key officials, program coordinators, medical team, faculty and staff, unit heads, and students of the university. The seminar featured a comprehensive discussion on fire safety protocols, prevention measures, and emergency response procedures, delivered by fire officers from the Tandag City Central Fire Station as resource speakers.

One of the key highlights of the event was a practical demonstration on how to correctly use a fire extinguisher to stop a fire. Participants were taught the proper technique of operating a fire extinguisher, including the PASS method - Pull the pin, Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle, and Sweep from side to side.

Following the instructional session, participants actively engaged in a fire drill to put their newfound knowledge into practice. The drill simulated a fire emergency scenario, allowing participants to demonstrate their ability to evacuate the premises safely and efficiently. The participants had the opportunity also to practice using a fire extinguisher in a controlled environment during the fire drill. This hands-on experience allowed them to gain confidence in their ability to effectively extinguish a small fire and prevent it from spreading.

Dr. Bagood commended the Tandag City Central Fire Station for its comprehensive and interactive approach to fire safety education. She emphasized the importance of equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond to fire emergencies promptly and effectively.

The successful conclusion of the Fire Safety Seminar and Drill at North Eastern Mindanao State University, which included practical training on using fire extinguishers, underscores the importance of proactive measures in ensuring fire safety in educational institutions and communities. The collaboration between the university and the Tandag City Central Fire Station, with a focus on practical fire safety skills, sets a positive example for promoting fire safety awareness and preparedness in the region.
