Strengthening partnerships and fostering collaboration, the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) successfully conducted the Stakeholderโs Meeting for the College of Medicine on January 28, 2025, at the NEMSU Old Boardroom.
Among the participants were University Key Officials, Dr. Oscar M. De Jesus Jr., Provincial Health Officer representing the Office of the Provincial Governor and Provincial Health Office; Atty. Dona Marie Flores Trinidad, representative of the 1st District Congressman of Surigao del Sur; Dr. Frederick C. Amhihan, Education Program Supervisor of CHED Caraga; and Indigenous Peoples representatives, city health officers, barangay representatives, and Dr. Janice V. Pagaran-Alcordo, Medical Center Chief II of ASTMMC, alongside key personnel from ASTMMC.
Opening the program, Dr. Evelyn T. Bagood, Campus Director, highlighted the importance of unified efforts in shaping a medical education program responsive to community needs. Participants were acknowledged by Dr. Keith Andrew A. Sanchez, faculty of the College of Medicine. Dr. Alilaine B. Cuanan-Cubero presented key updates, achievements, and plans for the College of Medicine.
The discussion followed, with inputs from different participating stakeholders. Dr. Amhihan commended NEMSU for its visionary leadership in establishing a College of Medicine and emphasized the Commissionโs full support. The conversation highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to ensure that NEMSU's medical education program remains relevant and impactful.
In closing, Dr. Jennifer M. Montero, OIC to the VP-Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude to the participants and reiterated the university's commitment to fostering strong partnerships for the College of Medicine's success.
The meeting marked a significant step toward building stronger alliances that will help shape a dynamic and inclusive medical education program, benefiting both the university and the community it serves.
