Securing an overall score of 18-7 in rounds 1 to 5, NEMSU-Main’s prime players ruled its kings against Cantilan’s contingents in the Chess tournament, Women’s Division, ripping 4 tickets to Cotabato.

Tandag’s team managed to establish a promising lead during the first round with 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss, gaining more momentum in the next with 4 wins and 1 loss.

After reaching the team’s peak in round 4 where they ruled all the matches, things took an 80-degree turn when they lost three times in the succeeding round. Nevertheless, the NEMSU-Tandag Chess team maintained their stronghold in the competition, sealing 4 of 5 slots in the upcoming MASTS.

Leading the pack was Divine Jea Manzano with 4.5 accumulated points. She stated that her primary focus during the match was simply to win and learn.

"Actually, proud ako sa Ginoo kay siya sab ang mitugot sa ako kadaugan,” Manzano added.
