Representatives from different NEMSU campuses gathered at NEMSU-Main's Prospero B. Pichay Sr. Gymnasium on August 23 for the joint meeting of the Academic and Administrative Councils (ACO-ADCO) focused on discussing important university matters.

University President, Dr. Nemesio G. Loayon, took the podium to provide key updates regarding university affairs. Central to his address was the impact of trust, confidence, and reputation on NEMSU's standing within the community. Notably, this influence led to a substantial rise in enrollment across campuses. Figures climbed from 16,870 in the previous academic year to an impressive 28,930.

Addressing the need for evolution, Campus Director Abundio C. Miralles, Ed.D, asserted the necessity of progressiveness in his words of welcome. Miralles emphasized how time and shifting priorities have necessitated adjustments in plans, directions, and mandates. He stressed that the changing needs of both the local community and the nation at large were driving forces behind this demand for reform within the institution.

“Subalit sa paglipas ng panahon, marami nang nagbago: ang mga plano, prayoridad, direksyon, at mandato. Ito ay dahilan ng mga nakikita nating pagbabago ng pangangailangan ng ating pamayanan, ng ating bansa at dahilan kung bakit maging ang ating institusyon ay kailangan din ng reporma upang ito ay maging akma sa pangangailangan ng bagong panahon.” Miralles said.

Additionally, Miralles conveyed a strong message to fellow public servants, emphasizing the significance of remaining committed to their goals and underscoring that while administrators may change, their core aspirations should endure.

The joint ACO-ADCO meeting is held quarterly to discuss key issues in the university.
